Z Domus Designs is expanding once again, and we’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment to join our dynamic team! In this role, you’ll support the design team by managing construction selections, project documentation, and coordination efforts to ensure seamless collaboration between designers, builders, and vendors.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of design within a construction setting. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. While this role focuses on assisting the design process rather than independently managing design decisions, it offers valuable exposure to the industry and the chance to grow within a thriving firm.

Hours: FT (in-studio)

Pay range: Starts at $60K

Benefits: 10 days PTO + nine major holidays and your birthday (20 days total), 401K eligible after one year, health care after a 90-day introductory period

Location: Malvern, PA  

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in selecting and specifying materials, finishes, and fixtures to align with project design and construction requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including selection schedules, cabinetry elevation drawings, and finish boards.
  • Collaborate with builders, contractors, and vendors to ensure design intent is accurately executed.
  • Support project management efforts by tracking deadlines, budgets, and procurement needs.
  • Conduct site visits to verify design compliance, take field measurements, and assist with issue resolution alongside project managers.
  • Maintain organized client files, presentation materials, and vendor samples for efficient workflow.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, builders, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Research products, materials, and emerging design trends to inform and enhance design decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of full-time experience in interior design, architecture, or a construction-related role.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, finishes, and cabinetry design.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or comparable programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Drive.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with project management software, such as ClickUp, is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage tasks and responsibilities independently.
  • High level of professional maturity and accountability.
  • Exceptional etiquette and customer service skills in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing project-related tasks, including light lifting, using a ladder, and other hands-on duties as needed.

Role in the Organization & Future Growth

  • Plays a key role in supporting the design team by ensuring accuracy in project documentation and facilitating seamless execution of design plans.
  • Coordinates with builders, vendors, and other stakeholders to enhance project efficiency and uphold the firm’s commitment to quality.
  • Gains hands-on experience in high-end residential and custom home projects, with opportunities for professional growth within the organization.
  • Typical tenure in this role at ZDD has been at least one year, with advancement depending on individual performance and the firm’s workload.

Work Environment

  • Functions primarily in an office, on-site at construction jobs, and/or vendor showrooms
  • An open desk environment to encourage creativity and teamwork, paired with private meeting rooms for virtual calls or smaller group meetings when privacy and focus are needed
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday
  • Position demands excellent vision (with or without correction) and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms for computer and phone work
  • Occasional travel to client locations and the ability to move inventory up to 40 pounds as needed

Physical & On-Site Work Requirements

  • Work takes place in the office, at construction sites, and in vendor showrooms.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the day as needed.
